Estonia’s Summer Interns Class of 2025 Graduates!

by Walacy Ferreira

This June, 31 talented interns – 24 in Tartu office and 7 in Tallinn office – joined Playtech Estonia for an educational and exciting summer internship experience.

The summer internship program has been a proud tradition at Playtech Estonia since 2012, aimed at nurturing future IT talent. Each year, the program offers interns a chance to gain hands-on experience at an international tech company, explore various IT roles and tasks and get a real feel for the industry. For many, it’s a valuable stepping stone into the tech sector and for the most outstanding interns, it can lead to full-time job offers.

Interns are treated as full team members. They work on real projects, contribute meaningfully and are invited to all internal events, including the much-anticipated Summer Days, throughout their 11-week journey with us.

On August 18, Playtech Estonia celebrated the end of the internship program in both offices. Interns received thank-you gifts and the occasion was marked with cake and bubbly.

Here’s what some of Class of 2025 interns had to say about their experience:

Olena Ushenko, Software Engineer Intern at IMS

I wanted to gain real work experience. Playtech is an international company and as an intern, you can observe the responsibilities of people in different job positions and get to know the industry from the inside.

I worked on typical developer tasks and experienced the daily routine of an employee. From day one, I was treated like a regular colleague and participated in daily meetings, discussing the progress of tasks assigned to me. The working environment was awesome – everyone was really welcoming, helpful and ready to answer my questions. During the internship, I improved my Java and soft skills. So I strongly recommend to click ‘Apply’!

Triin Sankman, Technical Support Specialist Intern

I applied because I was eager to learn and gain experience. Playtech stood out to me with its positive work culture, which made it the perfect place to start my journey in IT.

During my internship, I’ve significantly improved my keyboard proficiency and my ability to quickly find the information I need. This experience has given me a very positive view of the IT world, and I’ll definitely pursue this field going forward.

Sander Sirge, Software Engineer Intern at IMS

This internship has helped me sharpen my programming skills, improve my problem-solving abilities and become better at working in a professional development team. I’ve also learned how to navigate real-world codebases and follow industry best practices. Overall, it’s given me a much clearer picture of the IT world as a fast-moving, collaborative field where you never stop learning. The learning process here is well-paced and the team is always ready to support you, so you’ll quickly find your footing.

Uku Konsap, QA Engineer Intern at IMS

This internship has been crucial for developing my “big picture” thinking, helping me understand how massive software systems are built and maintained collaboratively. On a practical level, I’ve become much more proficient with professional tools like Git, Cypress and the command line, while also sharpening my Java skills.

The biggest surprise was learning how to overcome the initial anxiety of asking questions, which has shown me that the real IT world values clear communication and teamwork just as much as pure coding ability.”

Robert Pirs, Software Engineer Intern at IMS

I feel like I have significantly improved my analytical and debugging skills and gained deeper knowledge about certain technologies our team used for OneLogin. This internship showed me that the IT world is constantly evolving, and that a codebase is never truly ‘finished.’ For future interns, remember that while you may be the least experienced person in the room, your perspective matters.

We wish our summer interns all the best!
